Blue July bright JulyA
Month of storms and gorgeous blueB
Violet lightnings o'er thy skyA
Heavy falls of drenching dewB
Summer crown o'er glen and gladeC
Shrinking hyacinths in their shadeC
I welcome thee with all thy prideD
I love thee like an Eastern brideD
Though all the singing days are doneE
As in those climes that clasp the sunE
Though the cuckoo in his throatF
Leaves to the dove his last twin noteF
Come to me with thy lustrous eyeA
Golden dawning orientlyB
Come with all thy shining bloomsG
Thy rich red rose and rolling gloomsG
Though the cuckoo doth but sing 'cuk cuk 'H
And the dove alone doth cooB
Though the cushat spins her coo r roo r r rooI
To the cuckoo's halting 'cuk 'H

Sweet July warm JulyB
Month when mosses near the streamJ
Soft green mosses thick and shyB
Are a rapture and a dreamJ
Summer Queen whose foot the fernK
Fades beneath while chestnuts burnK
I welcome thee with thy fierce loveL
Gloom below and gleam aboveL
Though all the forest trees hang dumbM
With dense leafiness o'ercomeM
Though the nightingale and thrushN
Pipe not from the bough or bushO
Come to me with thy lustrous eyeB
Azure melting westerlyB
The raptures of thy face unfoldP
And welcome in thy robes of goldP
Tho' the nightingale broods 'sweet chuck sweet'P
And the ouzel flutes so chillB
Tho' the throstle gives but one shrilly trillB
To the nightingale's 'sweet sweet '-
