By The Rosanna--to F.m. Stanzer Thal, Tyrol Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEFGFGHHIIJJKKThe old grey Alp has caught the cloud | A |
And the torrent river sings aloud | A |
The glacier green Rosanna sings | B |
An organ song of its upper springs | B |
Foaming under the tiers of pine | C |
I see it dash down the dark ravine | D |
And it tumbles the rocks in boisterous play | E |
With an earnest will to find its way | E |
Sharp it throws out an emerald shoulder | F |
And thundering ever of the mountain | G |
Slaps in sport some giant boulder | F |
And tops it in a silver fountain | G |
A chain of foam from end to end | H |
And a solitude so deep my friend | H |
You may forget that man abides | I |
Beyond the great mute mountain sides | I |
Yet to me in this high walled solitude | J |
Of river and rock and forest rude | J |
The roaring voice through the long white chain | K |
Is the voice of the world of bubble and brain | K |
