At The Close Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAACCADEFDEF

To Thee dear God of Mercy both appealA
Who straightway sound the call to arms Thou know'stB
And that black spot in each embattled hostC
Spring of the blood stream later wilt revealA
Now is it red artillery and white steelA
Till on a day will ring the victor's boastC
That 'tis Thy chosen towers uppermostC
Where Thy rejected grovels under heelA
So in all times of man's descent insaneD
To brute did strength and craft combining strikeE
Even as a God of Armies his fell blowF
But at the close he entered Thy domainD
Dear God of Mercy and if lion likeE
He tore the fall'n the Eternal was his FoeF
