| Sent madly loose through the wide staring rent | C |
| In yon tormented branches I will bow | A |
| A while unto the storm and thenceforth grow | D |

| Before the unconquering Power which hither sent | C |
| These winds to fight their battles on my brow | A |
| Again the loud boughs thunder and the din | E |
| Licks up my footfall from the hissing earth | F |
