Ane was grit an' strong an' rentD
Rocks an' muntains as it wentD
Afore the Lord his trumpeterC
Waukin up the prophet's earJ
Ane was like a stepping sounI
I' the mulberry taps abuneI
Them the Lord's ain steps did swingG
Walkin on afore his kingG
Ane lay dune like scoldit pupK
At his feet an' gatna upK
Whan the word the Maister spakG
Drave the wull cat billows backG

To the yird the sodger thrangG
