When The Storm Was Proudest Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE GGHIIH JJKLLK EEMNNM

When the storm was proudestA
And the wind was loudestA
I heard the hollow caverns drinking down belowB
When the stars were brightC
And the ground was whiteC
I heard the grasses springing underneath the snowB
-
Many voices spakeD
The river to the lakeD
And the iron ribbed sky was talking to the seaE
And every starry sparkF
Made music with the darkF
And said how bright and beautiful everything must beE
-
When the sun was settingG
All the clouds were gettingG
Beautiful and silvery in the rising moonH
Beneath the leafless treesI
Wrangling in the breezeI
I could hardly see them for the leaves of JuneH
-
When the day had endedJ
And the night descendedJ
I heard the sound of streams that I heard not through the dayK
And every peak afarL
Was ready for a starL
And they climbed and rolled around until the morning grayK
-
Then slumber soft and holyE
Came down upon me slowlyE
And I went I know not whither and I lived I know not howM
My glory had been banishedN
For when I woke it vanishedN
But I waited on its coming and I am waiting nowM
