Translations. - The Creed. (luther's Song-book.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCCCDD EFGFBBBBHI JFJFBIBIFK

In one true God we all believeA
Maker of the earth and heavenB
Who us as children to receiveA
Hath himself as father givenB
Now and henceforth he will feed usC
Soul and body will be round usC
'Gainst mischances all will heed usC
Nought shall come on us to wound usC
He watches for us cares defendsD
And everything to his might bendsD
-
And we believe in Jesus ChristE
His son our Lord Evermore heF
Sits beside the Father high'stG
Equal God in might and gloryF
He of Mary the young maidenB
Verily was born true humanB
By the Holy Ghost Grief ladenB
For our sakes lost man and womanB
He on the cross expired in faithH
And rose again through God from deathI
-
We believe in the Holy GhostJ
With the Father and the SaviourF
In whom the fearful learn to boastJ
Who the meek doth crown with favourF
Christendom in earth and heavenB
Of one heart and mind he keepethI
Here all sins shall be forgivenB
Wake too shall the flesh that sleepethI
After these sufferings there shall beF
Life to all eternity AmenK
