Translations. - Simeon The Patriarch's Song Of Praise. (luther's Song-book.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCD EFGFHI JKLKMI NENOHD

In peace and joy I now departA
For God hath willed itB
Comforted is my mind and heartA
For he hath stilled itB
As my God did promise meC
Death is grown only slumberD
-
That shows that Christ is God's own SonE
And our saviour soF
Whom thou O Lord to me hast shownG
Making me knowF
Him the Life eternalH
And health in pain and dyingI
-
In the fore front thou hast him placedJ
In him delightedK
The whole world to his kingdom blestL
Hast invitedK
Through thy precious wholesome wordM
In every place resoundingI
-
He is the health and happy lightN
Of the heathenE
To ope their eyes and give them sightN
Thee to see thenO
He to thy people Isr'elH
Is glory honour pleasureD
