Translations. - Milton's Italian Poems. Ii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBABCBCBB

As in the twilight brown on hillside bareA
Useth to go the little shepherd maidB
Watering some strange fair plant poorly displayedB
Ill thriving in unwonted soil and airA
Far from its native springtime's genial careA
So on my ready tongue hath Love assayedB
In a strange speech to wake new flower and bladeB
While I of thee proud yet so debonairA
Sing songs whose sense is to my people lostB
Yield the fair Thames and the fair Arno gainC
Love willed it so and I at others' costB
Already knew Love never willed in vainC
Would my heart slow and bosom hard were foundB
To him who plants from heaven so fair a groundB
