To S. F. S. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDCCEThey say that lonely sorrows do not chance | A |
More gently I think sorrows together go | B |
A new one joins the funeral gliding slow | B |
With less of jar than when it breaks the dance | A |
Grief swages grief and joy doth joy enhance | A |
Nature is generous to her children so | B |
And were they quick to spy the flowers that blow | B |
As quick to feel the sharp edged stones that lance | A |
The foot that must walk naked in life's way | C |
Blest by the roadside lily free from fear | D |
Oftener than hurt by dash of flinty spear | D |
They would walk upright bold and earnest gay | C |
And when the soft night closed the weary day | C |
Would sleep like those that far off music hear | E |
