The New Year Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE

Be welcome year with corn and sickle comeA
Make poor the body but make rich the heartB
What man that bears his sheaves gold nodding homeC
Will heed the paint rubbed from his groaning cartB
-
Nor leave behind thy fears and holy shamesD
Thy sorrows on the horizon hanging lowE
Gray gathered fuel for the sunset flamesD
When joyous in death's harvest home we goE
