Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL MNMN

In the hot sun for water coolA
She walked in listless moodB
When back she ran her pitcher fullC
Forgot behind her stoodD
-
Like one who followed straying sheepE
A weary man she sawF
Who sat upon the well so deepE
And nothing had to drawF
-
Give me to drink he said Her handG
Was ready with replyH
From out the old well of the landG
She drew him plenteouslyH
-
He spake as never man beforeI
She stands with open earsJ
He spake of holy days in storeI
Laid bare the vanished yearsJ
-
She cannot still her throbbing heartK
She hurries to the townL
And cries aloud in street and martK
The Lord is here come downL
-
Her life before was strange and sadM
A very dreary soundN
Ah let it go or good or badM
She has the Master foundN
