Sweep and sweep and sweep the floorA
Sweep the dust pick up the pinB
Make it clean from fire to doorA
Clean for father to come inB
-
Mother said that God goes sweepingC
Looking sweeping with a broomD
All the time that we are sleepingC
For a shilling in the roomD
-
Did he drop it out of gloryE
Walking far above the birdsF
Or did parson make the storyE
For the thinking afterwardsF
-
If I were the swept for shillingC
I would hearken through the gloomD
Roll out fast and fall down willingC
Right before the sweeping broomD
