Song Of A Poor Pilgrim Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH DIDI JKJK ILIL

Roses all the rosy wayA
Roses to the rosier westB
Where the roses of the dayA
Cling to night's unrosy breastB
-
Thou who mak'st the roses whyC
Give to every leaf a thornD
On thy rosy highway IC
Still am by thy roses tornD
-
Pardon I will not mistakeE
These good thorns that make me fretF
Goads to urge me stings to wakeE
For my freedom they are setF
-
Yea on one steep mountain sideG
Climbing to a fancied foldH
Roses grasped had let me slideG
But the thorns did keep their holdH
-
Out of darkness light is bornD
Out of weakness make me strongI
One glad day will every thornD
Break into a rose of songI
-
Though like sparrow sit thy birdJ
Lonely on the house top darkK
By the rosy dawning stirredJ
Up will soar thy praising larkK
-
Roses roses all his songI
Roses in a gorgeous feastL
Roses in a royal throngI
Surging rosing from the eastL
