On A December Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCB BCCB DEDEFF A GEEGGEHI JKKLEE

IA
-
This is the sweetness of an April dayB
The softness of the spring is on the faceC
Of the old year She has no natural graceC
But something comes to her from far awayB
-
Out of the Past and on her old decayB
The beauty of her childhood you can traceC
And yet she moveth with a stormy paceC
And goeth quickly Stay old year oh stayB
-
We do not like new friends we love the oldD
With young fierce hopeful hearts we ill agreeE
But thou art patient stagnant calm and coldD
And not like that new year that is to beE
Life promise love her eyes may fill fair childF
We know the past and will not be beguiledF
-
IIA
-
Yet the free heart will not be captive longG
And if she changes often she is freeE
But if she changes One has masteryE
Who makes the joy the last in every songG
And so to day I blessed the breezes strongG
That swept the blue I blessed the breezes freeE
That rolled wet leaves like rivers shininglyH
I blessed the purple woods I stood amongI
-
And yet the spring is better BitternessJ
Came with the words but did not stay with themK
Accomplishment and promise field and stemK
New green fresh growing in a fragrant dressL
And we behind with death and memoryE
Nay prophet spring but I will follow theeE
