WHO is this little one lyingA
Said Time at my garden gateB
Moaning and sobbing and cryingA
Out in the cold so lateB
-
They lurked until we came nearC
Master and I the child saidD
Then caught me with 'Welcome New yearC
Happy Year Golden head '-
-
See Christmas day my MasterE
On the meadow a mile awayF
Father Time make me run fasterE
I'm the Shadow of Christmas dayF
-
Run my child still he's in sightG
Only look well to his trackH
Little Shadow run like the lightG
He misses you at his backH
-
Old Time sat down in the sunI
On a grave stone his legs were numbJ
When the boy to his master has runI
He said Heaven's New Year is comeJ
