The mountain stream may humbly boastA
For her the loud waves callB
The hamlet feeds the nation's hostA
The home farm feeds the hallB
-
And unto earth heaven's Lord doth lendC
The right of high importD
The gladsome privilege to sendC
New courtiers to Love's courtD
-
Not strange to thee O lady dearE
Life in that palace fairF
For thou while waiting with us hereG
Didst just as they do thereF
-
Thy heart still open to receiveH
Open thy hand to giveI
God had thee graced with more than leaveH
In heavenly state to liveJ
-
And though thou art gone up so highK
Thou art not gone so farL
But that thy love to us comes nighK
As starlight from a starL
-
And ours must reach where'er thou artM
In far or near abodeN
For God is of all love the heartM
And we are all in GodO
