How Shall He Sing Who Hath No Song? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAABAAAAACCACAC CDDEFAACGGHH AAAIACACC

How shall he sing who hath no songA
He laugh who hath no mirthB
Will cannot wake the sleeping songA
Yea Love itself in vain may longA
To sing with them that have a songA
Or mirthless laugh with MirthB
He who would sing but hath no songA
Must speak the right denounce the wrongA
Must humbly front the indignant throngA
Must yield his back to Satire's thongA
Nor shield his face from liar's prongA
Must say and do and be the truthC
And fearless wait for what ensuethC
Wait wait with patience sweet and strongA
Until God's glory fill the earthC
Then shall he sing who had no songA
He laugh who had no mirthC
-
Yea if in land of stony dearthC
Like barren rock thou sitD
Round which the phantom waters flitD
Of heart and brain mirageE
That can no thirst assuageF
Yet be thou still and wait wait longA
A right sea comes to drown the wrongA
God's glory comes to fill the earthC
And thou no more a scathed rockG
Shalt start alive with gladsome shockG
Shalt a hand clapping billow beH
And shout with the eternal seaH
-
To righteousness and love belongA
The dance the jubilance the songA
When the great Right hath quelled the wrongA
And Truth hath stilled the lying tongueI
Then men must sing because of songA
And laugh because of mirthC
And this shall be their anthem strongA
Hallow the glad God fills the earthC
And Love sits down by every hearthC
