Hom. Il. V. 403 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEECD

If thou art tempted by a thought of illA
Crave not too soon for victory nor deemB
Thou art a coward if thy safety seemB
To spring too little from a righteous willA
For there is nightmare on thee nor untilA
Thy soul hath caught the morning's early gleamB
Seek thou to analyze the monstrous dreamB
By painful introversion rather fillA
Thine eye with forms thou knowest to be truthC
But see thou cherish higher hope than thisD
hope hereafter that thou shall be fitE
Calm eyed to face distortion and to sitE
Transparent among other forms of youthC
Who own no impulse save to God and blissD
