From Novalis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH GCGCGIGI JKLKKMKN

Uplifted is the stoneA
And all mankind arisenB
We are thy very ownA
We are no more in prisonB
What bitterest grief can stayC
Beside thy golden cupD
When earth and life give wayC
And with our Lord we supD
-
To the marriage Death doth callE
The lamps are burning clearF
The virgins ready allE
Have for their oil no fearF
Would that even now were ringingG
The distance with thy throngH
And that the stars were singingG
To us a human songH
-
Courage for life is hastingG
To endless life awayC
The inward fire unwastingG
Transfigures our dull clayC
See the stars melting sinkingG
In life wine golden brightI
We of the splendour drinkingG
Shall grow to stars of lightI
-
Lost lost are all our lossesJ
Love is for ever freeK
The full life heaves and tossesL
Like an unbounded seaK
One live eternal storyK
One poem high and broadM
And sun of all our gloryK
The countenance of GodN
