Every time would have its songA
If the heart were rightB
Seeing Love all tender strongA
Fills the day and nightB
-
Weary drop the hands of PrayerC
Calling out for peaceD
Love always and everywhereC
Sings and does not ceaseD
-
Fear the caitiff through the nightB
Silent peers aboutE
Love comes singing with a lightB
And doth cast him outE
-
Hate and Guile and Wrath and DoubtE
Never try to singF
If they did oh what a routE
Anguished ears would stingF
-
Pride indeed will sometimes aimG
At the finer speechH
But the best that he can frameG
Is a peacock screechH
-
Greed will also sometimes tryI
Happiness he huntsJ
But his dwelling is a styI
And his tones are gruntsJ
-
Faith will sometimes raise a songA
Soaring up to heavenK
Then she will be silent longA
And will weep at evenL
-
Hope has many a gladsome noteM
Now and then to pipeN
But alas he has the throatM
Of a bird unripeN
-
Often Joy a stave will startO
Which the welkin rendsJ
But it always breaks athwartP
And untimely endsJ
-
Grief who still for death doth longA
Always self abhorredQ
Has but one low troubled songA
I am sorry LordQ
-
But Love singeth in the vaultR
Singeth on the stairC
Even for Sorrow will not haltR
Singeth everywhereC
-
For the great Love everywhereC
Over all doth glowS
Draws his birds up trough the airC
Tends his birds belowS
-
And with songs ascending sheerT
Love born Love repliesJ
Singing Father in his earU
Where she bleeding liesJ
-
Therefore if my heart were rightB
I should sing out clearT
Sing aloud both day and nightB
Every month in the yearT
