Where did you come from baby dearA
Out of the everywhere into hereB
-
Where did you get those eyes so blueC
Out of the sky as I came throughC
-
What makes the light in them sparkle and spinD
Some of the starry twinkles left inD
-
Where did you get that little tearE
I found it waiting when I got hereB
-
What makes your forehead so smooth and highF
A soft hand stroked it as I went byF
-
What makes your cheek like a warm white roseG
I saw something better than any one knowsG
-
Whence that three cornered smile of blissH
Three angels gave me at once a kissH
-
Where did you get this pearly earB
God spoke and it came out to hearB
-
Where did you get those arms and handsI
Love made itself into bonds and bandsI
-
Feet whence did you come you darling thingsJ
From the same box as the cherubs' wingsJ
-
How did they all just come to be youC
God thought about me and so I grewC
-
But how did you come to us you dearA
God thought about you and so I am hereB
