IA
-
I see thy house but I am blown aboutB
A wind mocked kite between the earth and skyA
All out of doors alas of thy doors outB
And drenched in dews no summer suns can dryA
-
For every blast is passion of my ownC
The dews cold sweats of selfish agonyD
Dank vapour steams from memories lying proneC
And all my soul is but a stifled cryA
-
IIA
-
Lord thou dost hold my string else were I drivenE
Down to some gulf where I were tossed no moreF
No turmoil telling I was not in heavenE
No billows raving on a blessed shoreF
-
Thou standest on thy door sill calm as dayG
And all my throbs and pangs are pulls from theeD
Hold fast the string lest I should break awayG
And outer dark and silence swallow meD
-
IIIA
-
No longer fly thy kite Lord draw me homeH
Thou pull'st the string through all the distance bleakI
Lord I am nearing thee O Lord I comeJ
Thy pulls grow stronger and the wind grows weakI
-
In thy remodelling hands thou tak'st thy kiteK
A moment to thy bosom hold'st me fastL
Thou flingest me abroad lo in thy mightK
A strong winged bird I soar on every blastL
