Vanity (i) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCAD EFEFGEH EEEEAEA EIEJEEE

The fleet astronomer can boreA
And thread the spheres with his quick piercing mindB
He views theirs stations walks from door to doorA
Surveys as if he had designedB
To make a purchase there he sees their dancesC
And knoweth long beforeA
Both their full eyed aspects and secret glancesD
-
The nimble diver with his sideE
Cuts through the working waves that he may fetchF
His dearly earned pearl which God did hideE
On purpose from the ventrous wretchF
That he might save his life and also hersG
Who with excessive prideE
Her own destruction and his danger wearsH
-
The subtle chymick can devestE
And strip the creature naked till he findE
The callow principles within their nestE
There he imparts to them his mindE
Admitted to their bed chamber beforeA
They appear trim and drestE
To ordinary suitors at the doorA
-
What hath not man sought out and foundE
But his dear God who yet his glorious lawI
Embosoms in us mellowing the groundE
With showers and frosts with love and aweJ
So that we need not say Where's this commandE
Poor man thou searchest roundE
To find out death but missest life at handE
