To Anne (ii) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDDD EBEB AFAF

Oh say not sweet Anne that the Fates have decreedA
The heart which adores you should wish to disseverB
Such Fates were to me most unkind ones indeedA
To bear me from Love and from Beauty for everB
-
Your frowns lovely girl are the Fates which aloneC
Could bid me from fond admiration refrainD
By these every hope every wish were o'erthrownD
Till smiles should restore me to rapture againD
-
As the ivy and oak in the forest entwin'dE
The rage of the tempest united must weatherB
My love and my life were by nature design'dE
To flourish alike or to perish togetherB
-
Then say not sweet Anne that the Fates have decreedA
Your lover should bid you a lasting adieuF
Till Fate can ordain that his bosom shall bleedA
His Soul his Existence are centred in youF
