Kaspar Hauser's Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DBBE FGH IJK LMN OPBB

He truly loved the purple sun descending from the hillsA
The ways through the woods the singing blackbirdB
And the joys of greenC
-
Sombre was his dwelling in the shadows of the treeD
And his face undefiledB
God a tender flame spoke to his heartB
Oh son of manE
-
Silently his step turned to the city in the eveningF
A mysterious complaint fell from his lipsG
I shall become a horsemanH
-
But bush and beast did follow his waysI
To the pale people s house and garden at duskJ
And his murderer sought after himK
-
Spring and summer and oh so beautiful the fallL
Of the righteous His silent stepsM
Passed by the dark rooms of the dreamersN
-
At night he and his star dwelled aloneO
He saw the snow fall on bare branchesP
And in the murky doorway the assassin s shadowB
Silvern sank the unborne s headB
