Autumn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B C D E F G H I J J K L M

In the evening when the bells ring peaceA
-
I follow the wonderful flights of birdsB
-
That in long rows like devout processions of pilgrimsC
-
Disappear into the clear autumn vastnessD
-
Wandering through the garden closed for the nightE
-
I dream after their brighter destiniesF
-
And hardly feel the motion of the hour handsG
-
Thus I follow their journey over the cloudsH
-
Then a breath of decay makes me trembleI
-
A bird complains in defoliated branchesJ
-
The red wine sways on rusty trellisesJ
-
Meanwhile like the death dances of pale childrenK
-
Around dark fountain edges that weatherL
-
Shivering blue asters bend in the windM
