The Eager Note On My Door Said "call Me," Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCA DEAF AGHI AHAJ

The eager note on my door said quot Call me quotA
call when you get in quot so I quickly threwB
a few tangerines into my overnight bagC
straightened my eyelids and shoulders andA
-
headed straight for the door It was autumnD
by the time I got around the corner oh allE
unwilling to be either pertinent or bemused butA
the leaves were brighter than grass on the sidewalkF
-
Funny I thought that the lights are on this lateA
and the hall door open still up at this hour aG
champion jai alai player like himself Oh fieH
for shame What a host so zealous And he wasI
-
there in the hall flat on a sheet of blood thatA
ran down the stairs I did appreciate it There are fewH
hosts who so thoroughly prepare to greet a guestA
only casually invited and that several months agoJ
