Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEFGHIJKJIIL JMNOPQR STMU VTWTFTXH YTZIM VA2FB2C2

How funny you are today New YorkA
like Ginger Rogers in SwingtimeB
and St Bridget's steeple leaning a little to the leftC
-
here I have just jumped out of a bed full of V daysD
I got tired of D days and blue you there stillE
accepts me foolish and freeF
all I want is a room up thereG
and you in itH
and even the traffic halt so thick is a wayI
for people to rub up against each otherJ
and when their surgical appliances lockK
they stay togetherJ
for the rest of the day what a dayI
I go by to check a slide and I sayI
that painting's not so blueL
-
where's Lana TurnerJ
she's out eatingM
and Garbo's backstage at the MetN
everyone's taking their coat offO
so they can show a rib cage to the rib watchersP
and the park's full of dancers with their tights and shoesQ
in little bagsR
who are often mistaken for worker outers at the West Side Y-
why notS
the Pittsburgh Pirates shout because they wonT
and in a sense we're all winningM
we're aliveU
-
the apartment was vacated by a gay coupleV
who moved to the country for funT
they moved a day too soonW
even the stabbings are helping the population explosionT
though in the wrong countryF
and all those liars have left the UNT
the Seagram Building's no longer rivalled in interestX
not that we need liquor we just like itH
-
and the little box is out on the sidewalkY
next to the delicatessenT
so the old man can sit on it and drink beerZ
and get knocked off it by his wife later in the dayI
while the sun is still shiningM
-
oh god it's wonderfulV
to get out of bedA2
and drink too much coffeeF
and smoke too many cigarettesB2
and love you so muchC2
