Quel sol che mi mostrava il cammin destroA

LOVE AND HE SEEK LAURA BUT FIND NO TRACES OF HER EXCEPT IN THE SKYB

-
That sun which ever signall'd the right roadC
Where flash'd her own bright feet to heaven to flyB
Returning to the Eternal Sun on highB
Has quench'd my light and cast her earthly loadC
Thus lone and weary my oft steps have trodeC
As some wild animal the sere woods byB
Fleeing with heavy heart and downcast eyeB
The world which since to me a blank has show'dC
Still with fond search each well known spot I paceD
Where once I saw her Love who grieves me soE
My only guide directs me where to goE
I find her not her every sainted traceD
Seeks in bright realms above her parent starA
From grisly Styx and black Avernus farA
