Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FBFG| Chloe you shun me like a hind | A |
| That seeking vainly for her mother | B |
| Hears danger in each breath of wind | A |
| And wildly darts this way and t' other | B |
| - | |
| Whether the breezes sway the wood | C |
| Or lizards scuttle through the brambles | D |
| She starts and off as though pursued | E |

| But Chloe you're no infant thing | F |
| That should esteem a man an ogre | B |
| Let go your mother's apron string | F |
| And pin your faith upon a toga | G |
