The Wanderer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB DEFFE GHIIH DAEEA

Upon a mountain height far from the seaA
I found a shellB
And to my listening ear the lonely thingC
Ever a song of ocean seemed to singC
Ever a tale of ocean seemed to tellB
-
How came the shell upon that mountain heightD
Ah who can sayE
Whether there dropped by some too careless handF
Or whether there cast when Ocean swept the LandF
Ere the Eternal had ordained the DayE
-
Strange was it not Far from its native deepG
One song it sangH
Sang of the awful mysteries of the tideI
Sang of the misty sea profound and wideI
Ever with echoes of the ocean rangH
-
And as the shell upon the mountain heightD
Sings of the seaA
So do I ever leagues and leagues awayE
So do I ever wandering where I mayE
Sing O my home sing O my home of theeA
