The Three Kings Of Cologne Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFDFG HIJII KBLBM NOPOBB IQOQBB

From out Cologne there came three kingsA
To worship Jesus Christ their KingB
To Him they sought fine herbs they broughtC
And many a beauteous golden thingB
They brought their gifts to Bethlehem townD
And in that manger set them downD
-
Then spake the first king and he saidE
'O Child most heavenly bright and fairF
I bring this crown to Bethlehem townD
For Thee and only Thee to wearF
So give a heavenly crown to meG
When I shall come at last to Thee '-
-
The second then 'I bring Thee hereH
This royal robe O Child ' he criedI
'Of silk 'tis spun and such an oneJ
There is not in the world besideI
So in the day of doom requiteI
Me with a heavenly robe of white '-
-
The third king gave his gift and quothK
'Spikenard and myrrh to Thee I bringB
And with these twain would I most fainL
Anoint the body of my KingB
So may their incense sometime riseM
To plead for me in yonder skies '-
-
Thus spake the three kings of CologneN
That gave their gifts and went their wayO
And now kneel I in prayer hard byP
The cradle of the Child to dayO
Nor crown nor robe nor spice I bringB
As offering unto Christ my KingB
-
Yet have I brought a gift the ChildI
May not despise however smallQ
For here I lay my heart to dayO
And it is full of love to allQ
Take Thou the poor but loyal thingB
My only tribute Christ my KingB
