The Rock-a-by Lady Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAAB CDCCCD EBEEEB ABAAAB

The Rock a By Lady from Hushaby streetA
Comes stealing comes creepingB
The poppies they hang from her head to her feetA
And each hath a dream that is tiny and fleetA
She bringeth her poppies to you my sweetA
When she findeth you sleepingB
-
There is one little dream of a beautiful drumC
Rub a dub it goethD
There is one little dream of a big sugar plumC
And lo thick and fast the other dreams comeC
Of popguns that bang and tin tops that humC
And a trumpet that blowethD
-
And dollies peep out of those wee little dreamsE
With laughter and singingB
And boats go a floating on silvery streamsE
And the stars peek a boo with their own misty gleamsE
And up up and up where the Mother Moon beamsE
The fairies go wingingB
-
Would you dream all these dreams that are tiny and fleetA
They'll come to you sleepingB
So shut the two eyes that are weary my sweetA
For the Rock a By Lady from Hushaby streetA
With poppies that hang from her head to her feetA
Comes stealing comes creepingB
