When you were mine in auld lang syneB
And when none else your charms might ogleC
I'll not deny fair nymph that ID
Was happier than a heathen mogulC
-
SHEA
-
Before she came that rival flameE
Had ever mater saucier filiaC
In those good times bepraised in rhymesF
I was more famed than Mother IliaC
-
HEA
-
Chloe of Thrace With what a graceG
Does she at song or harp employ herH
I'd gladly die if only ID
Could live forever to enjoy herH
-
SHEA
-
My Sybaris so noble isI
That by the gods I love him madlyA
That I might save him from the graveJ
I'd give my life and give it gladlyA
-
HEA
-
What if ma belle from favor fellC
And I made up my mind to shake herH
Would Lydia then come back againB
And to her quondam love betake herH
-
SHEA
-
My other beau should surely goK
And you alone should find me graciousL
For no one slings such odes and thingsM
As does the lauriger HoratiusL
