The Happy Isles Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB AAAA CDCD EAEA FBFB AAAA AGAG

Oh come with me to the Happy IslesA
In the golden haze off yonderB
Where the song of the sun kissed breeze beguilesA
And the ocean loves to wanderB
-
Fragrant the vines that mantle those hillsA
Proudly the fig rejoicesA
Merrily dance the virgin rillsA
Blending their myriad voicesA
-
Our herds shall suffer no evil thereC
But peacefully feed and rest themD
Never thereto shall prowling bearC
Or serpent come to molest themD
-
Neither shall Eurus wanton boldE
Nor feverish drought distress usA
But he that compasseth heat and coldE
Shall temper them both to bless usA
-
There no vandal foot has trodF
And the pirate hordes that wanderB
Shall never profane the sacred sodF
Of those beautiful isles out yonderB
-
Never a spell shall blight our vinesA
Nor Sirius blaze above usA
But you and I shall drink our winesA
And sing to the loved that love usA
-
So come with me where Fortune smilesA
And the gods invite devotionG
Oh come with me to the Happy IslesA
In the haze of that far off oceanG
