Good editor Dana God bless him we sayA
Will soon be afloat on the mainB
Will be steaming awayA
Through the mist and the sprayA
To the sensuous climate of SpainB
-
Strange sights shall he see in that beautiful landC
Which is famed for its soap and its MoorD
For as we understandC
The scenery is grandC
Though the system of railways is poorE
-
For moonlight of silver and sunlight of goldF
Glint the orchards of lemons and mangoesG
And the ladies we're toldF
Are a joy to beholdF
As they twine in their lissome fandangoesG
-
What though our friend Dana shall twang a guitarH
And murmur a passionate strainB
Oh fairer by farH
Than those ravishments areH
The castles abounding in SpainB
-
These castles are built as the builder may listI
They are sometimes of marble or stoneJ
But they mostly consistI
Of east wind and mistI
With an ivy of froth overgrownJ
-
A beautiful castle our Dana shall raiseG
On a futile foundation of hopeK
And its glories shall blazeG
In the somnolent hazeG
Of the mythical lake del y SoapK
-
The fragrance of sunflowers shall swoon on the airL
And the visions of Dreamland obtainB
And the song of World's FairL
Shall be heard everywhereL
Through that beautiful castle in SpainB
