In an ocean 'way out yonderA
As all sapient people knowB
Is the land of Wonder WanderA
Whither children love to goB
It's their playing romping swingingC
That give great joy to meD
While the Dinkey Bird goes singingC
In the amfalula treeD
-
There the gum drops grow like cherriesE
And taffy's thick as peasE
Caramels you pick like berriesE
When and where and how you pleaseE
Big red sugar plums are clingingC
To the cliffs beside that seaD
Where the Dinkey Bird is singingC
In the amfalula treeD
-
So when children shout and scamperA
And make merry all the dayF
When there's naught to put a damperA
To the ardor of their playF
When I hear their laughter ringingC
Then I'm sure as sure can beD
That the Dinkey Bird is singingC
In the amfalula treeD
-
For the Dinkey Bird's bravurasD
And staccatos are so sweetG
His roulades appoggiaturasD
And robustos so completeG
That the youth of every nationH
Be they near or far awayF
Have especial delectationH
In that gladsome roundelayF
-
Their eyes grow bright and brighterA
Their lungs begin to crowB
Their hearts get light and lighterA
And their cheeks are all aglowB
For an echo cometh bringingC
The news to all and meD
That the Dinkey Bird is singingC
In the amfalula treeD
-
I'm sure you like to go thereI
To see your feathered friendJ
And so many goodies grow thereI
You would like to comprehendJ
Speed little dreams your wingingC
To that land across the seaD
Where the Dinkey Bird is singingC
In the amfalula treeD
