Orkney Lullaby Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACCDDDB EBEFFCCCB GBGAABBBB

A moonbeam floateth from the skiesA
Whispering Heigho my dearieB
I would spin a web before your eyesA
A beautiful web of silver lightC
Wherein is many a wondrous sightC
Of a radiant garden leagues awayD
Where the softly tinkling lilies swayD
And the snow white lambkins are at playD
Heigho my dearieB
-
A brownie stealeth from the vineE
Singing Heigho my dearieB
And will you hear this song of mineE
A song of the land of murk and mistF
Where bideth the bud the dew hath kistF
Then let the moonbeam's web of lightC
Be spun before thee silvery whiteC
And I shall sing the livelong nightC
Heigho my dearieB
-
The night wind speedeth from the seaG
Murmuring Heigho my dearieB
I bring a mariner's prayer for theeG
So let the moonbeam veil thine eyesA
And the brownie sing thee lullabiesA
But I shall rock thee to and froB
Kissing the brow he loveth soB
And the prayer shall guard thy bed I trowB
Heigho my dearieB
