Mother And Sphinx (egyptian Folk-song) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAABCDCCD AEAAEFGHFG IJIIJDADDA FAHFAKGKLG

Grim is the face that looks into the nightA
Over the stretch of sandsB
A sullen rock in a sea of whiteA
A ghostly shadow in ghostly lightA
Peering and moaning it standsB
Oh is it the king that rides this wayC
Oh is it the king that rides so freeD
I have looked for the king this many a dayC
But the years that mock me will not sayC
Why tarrieth heD
-
'T is not your king that shall ride to nightA
But a child that is fast asleepE
And the horse he shall ride is the Dream horse whiteA
Aha he shall speed through the ghostly lightA
Where the ghostly shadows creepE
My eyes are dull and my face is sereF
Yet unto the word he gave I clingG
For he was a Pharaoh that set me hereH
And lo I have waited this many a yearF
For him my kingG
-
Oh past thy face my darling shall rideI
Swift as the burning winds that bearJ
The sand clouds over the desert wideI
Swift to the verdure and palms besideI
The wells off thereJ
And is it the mighty king I shall seeD
Come riding into the nightA
Oh is it the king come back to meD
Proudly and fiercely rideth heD
With centuries dightA
-
I know no king but my dark eyed dearF
That shall ride the Dream Horse whiteA
But see he wakes at my bosom hereH
While the Dream Horse frettingly lingers nearF
To speed with my babe to nightA
And out of the desert darkness peersK
A ghostly ghastly shadowy thingG
Like a spirit come out of the mouldering yearsK
And ever that waiting spectre hearsL
The coming kingG
