Little Willie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDEFEFGDGD HIJIKDKD LILIEDED MEMENDND

When Willie was a little boyA
No more than five or sixB
Right constantly he did annoyA
His mother with his tricksB
Yet not a picayune cared IC
For what he did or saidD
Unless as happened frequentlyE
The rascal wet the bedD
Closely he cuddled up to meE
And put his hands in mineF
Till all at once I seemed to beE
Afloat in seas of brineF
Sabean odors clogged the airG
And filled my soul with dreadD
Yet I could only grin and bearG
When Willie wet the bedD
-
'Tis many times that rascal hasH
Soaked all the bedclothes throughI
Whereat I'd feebly light the gasJ
And wonder what to doI
Yet there he lay so peaceful likeK
God bless his curly headD
I quite forgave the little tykeK
For wetting of the bedD
-
Ah me those happy days have flownL
My boy's a father tooI
And little Willies of his ownL
Do what he used to doI
And I Ah all that's left for meE
Is dreams of pleasure fledD
Our boys ain't what they used to beE
When Willie wet the bedD
-
Had I my choice no shapely dameM
Should share my couch with meE
No amorous jade of tarnished fameM
Nor wench of high degreeE
But I would choose and choose againN
The little curly headD
Who cuddled close beside me whenN
He used to wet the bedD
