Jewish Lullaby Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE GGHIIH AAJKLJ

My harp is on the willow treeA
Else would I sing O love to theeA
A song of long agoB
Perchance the song that Miriam sungC
Ere yet Judea's heart was wrungC
By centuries of woeB
-
I ate my crust in tears to dayD
As scourged I went upon my wayD
And yet my darling smiledE
Ay beating at my breast he laughedF
My anguish curdled not the draughtF
'T was sweet with love my childE
-
The shadow of the centuries liesG
Deep in thy dark and mournful eyesG
But hush and close them nowH
And in the dreams that thou shalt dreamI
The light of other days shall seemI
To glorify thy browH
-
Our harp is on the willow treeA
I have no song to sing to theeA
As shadows round us rollJ
But hush and sleep and thou shalt hearK
Jehovah's voice that speaks to cheerL
Judea's fainting soulJ
