Jennie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGFCDCD HFHFCDCD

Some men affect a likingA
For the prim in face and mindB
And some prefer the strikingA
And the loud in womankindB
Wee Madge is wooed of manyC
And buxom Kate as wellD
And Jennie charming JennieC
Ah Jennie doesn't tellD
-
What eyes so bright as Daisy'sE
And who as Maud so fairF
Who does not sing the praisesG
Of Lucy's golden hairF
There's Sophie she is wittyC
A very sprite is NellD
And Susie's oh so prettyC
But Jennie doesn't tellD
-
And now for my confessionH
Of all the virtues rareF
I argue that discretionH
Doth most beseem the fairF
And though I hear the manyC
Extol each other belleD
I I pronounce for JennieC
For Jennie doesn't tellD
