In Flanders Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDEB FFFF EF GFHFF IF FFFFJ KFLFMF NFOFIF PF

Through sleet and fogs to the saline bogsA
Where the herring fish meandersB
An army sped and then 't is saidC
Swore terribly in FlandersB
D
D
A hideous store of oaths they sworeE
Did the army over in FlandersB
-
At this distant day we're unable to sayF
What so aroused their dandersF
But it's doubtless the case to their lasting disgraceF
That the army swore in FlandersF
-
-
And many more such oaths they sworeE
Did that impious horde in FlandersF
-
Some folks contend that these oaths without endG
Began among the commandersF
That taking this cue the subordinates tooH
Swore terribly in FlandersF
TwasF
-
-
Why the air was blue with the hullaballooI
Of those wicked men in FlandersF
-
But some suppose that the trouble aroseF
With a certain Corporal SandersF
Who sought to abuse the wooden shoesF
That the natives wore in FlandersF
SayingJ
-
-
What marvel then that the other menK
Felt encouraged to swear in FlandersF
At any rate as I grieve to stateL
Since these soldiers vented their dandersF
Conjectures obtain that for language profaneM
There is no such place as FlandersF
-
-
-
This is the kind of talk you'll findN
If ever you go to FlandersF
How wretched is he wherever he beO
That unto this habit pandersF
And how glad am I that my interests lieI
In Chicago and not in FlandersF
-
-
-
Would never go down in this circumspect townP
However it might in FlandersF
