Horace To His Lute Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEEFFGG HIJJ

If ever in the sylvan shadeA
A song immortal we have madeA
Come now O lute I pri' thee comeB
Inspire a song of LatiumB
-
A Lesbian first thy glories provedC
In arms and in repose he lovedD
To sweep thy dulcet strings and raiseE
His voice in Love's and Liber's praiseE
The Muses too and him who clingsF
To Mother Venus' apron stringsF
And Lycus beautiful he sungG
In those old days when you were youngG
-
O shell that art the ornamentH
Of Phoebus bringing sweet contentI
To Jove and soothing troubles allJ
Come and requite me when I callJ
