Horace I, 31. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FCFB GHGH

As forth he pours the new made wineA
What blessing asks the lyric poetB
What boon implores in this fair shrineA
Of one full likely to bestow itC
-
Not for Sardinia's plenteous storeD
Nor for Calabrian herds he prayethE
Nor yet for India's wealth galoreD
Nor meads where voiceless Liris playethE
-
Let honest riches celebrateF
The harvest earned I'd not deny itC
Yet am I pleased with my estateF
My humble home my frugal dietB
-
Child of Latonia this I craveG
May peace of mind and health attend meH
And down into my very graveG
May this dear lyre of mine befriend meH
