Egyptian Folk-song. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAABCDCCD AEFAAEGHIGH JKJJKDADDA GAIGALHLMH

Grim is the face that looks into the nightA
Over the stretch of sandsB
A sullen rock in the sea of whiteA
A ghostly shadow in ghostly lightA
Peering and moaning it standsB
Oh is it the king that rides this wayC
Oh is it the king that rides so freeD
I have looked for the king this many a dayC
But the years that mock me will not sayC
Why tarrieth heD
-
'Tis not your king that shall ride to nightA
But a child that is fast asleepE
And the horse he shall ride is the Dream HorseF
whiteA
Aha he shall speed through the ghostly lightA
Where the ghostly shadows creepE
My eyes are dull and my face is sereG
Yet unto the word he gave I clingH
For he was a Pharoah that set me hereI
And lo I have waited this many a yearG
For him my kingH
-
Oh past thy face my darling shall rideJ
Swift as the burning winds that bearK
The sand clouds over the desert wideJ
Swift to the verdure and palms besideJ
The wells off thereK
And is it the mighty king I shall seeD
Come riding into the nightA
Oh is it the king come back to meD
Proudly and fiercely rideth heD
With centuries dightA
-
I know no king but my dark eyed dearG
That shall ride the Dream Horse whiteA
But see he wakes at my bosom hereI
While the Dream Horse frettingly lingers nearG
To speed with my babe to nightA
And out of the desert darkness peersL
A ghostly ghastly shadowy thingH
Like a spirit come out of the moldering yearsL
And ever that waiting specter hearsM
The coming kingH
