Child And Mother Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJAHAH

O mother my love if you'll give me your handA
And go where I ask you to wanderB
I will lead you away to a beautiful landA
The Dreamland that's waiting out yonderB
We'll walk in a sweet posie garden out thereC
Where moonlight and starlight are streamingD
And the flowers and the birds are filling the airC
With the fragrance and music of dreamingD
-
There'll be no little tired out boy to undressE
No questions or cares to perplex youF
There'll be no little bruises or bumps to caressE
Nor patching of stockings to vex youF
For I'll rock you away on a silver dew streamG
And sing you asleep when you're wearyH
And no one shall know of our beautiful dreamG
But you and your own little dearieH
-
And when I am tired I'll nestle my headI
In the bosom that's soothed me so oftenJ
And the wide awake stars shall sing in my steadI
A song which our dreaming shall softenJ
So Mother my Love let me take your dear handA
And away through the starlight we'll wanderH
Away through the mist to the beautiful landA
The Dreamland that's waiting out yonderH
