By My Sweetheart Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBAB ADEEAD AFGFAF AHIHAH

Sweetheart be my sweetheartA
When birds are on the wingB
When bee and bud and babbling floodC
Bespeak the birth of springB
Come sweetheart be my sweetheartA
And wear this posy ringB
-
Sweetheart be my sweetheartA
In the mellow golden glowD
Of earth aflush with the gracious blushE
Which the ripening fields foreshowE
Dear sweetheart be my sweetheartA
As into the noon we goD
-
Sweetheart be my sweetheartA
When falls the bounteous yearF
When fruit and wine of tree and vineG
Give us their harvest cheerF
Oh sweetheart be my sweetheartA
For winter it draweth nearF
-
Sweetheart be my sweetheartA
When the year is white and oldH
When the fire of youth is spent forsoothI
And the hand of age is coldH
Yet sweetheart be my sweetheartA
Till the year of our love be toldH
