Beard And Baby Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FEFE DGDG HGHG FEFE IJIJ

I say as one who never fearedA
The wrath of a subscriber's bulletB
I pity him who has a beardA
But has no little girl to pull itC
-
When wife and I have finished teaD
Our baby woos me with her prattleE
And perching proudly on my kneeD
She gives my petted whiskers battleE
-
With both her hands she tugs awayF
While scolding at me kind o' spitefulE
You'll not believe me when I sayF
I find the torture quite delightfulE
-
No other would presume I weenD
To trifle with this hirsute wonderG
Else would I rise in vengeful mienD
And rend his vandal frame asunderG
-
But when her baby fingers pullH
This glossy sleek and silky treasureG
My cup of happiness is fullH
I fairly glow with pride and pleasureG
-
And sweeter still through all the dayF
I seem to hear her winsome prattleE
I seem to feel her hands at playF
As though they gave me sportive battleE
-
Yes heavenly music seems to stealI
Where thought of her forever lingersJ
And round my heart I always feelI
The twining of her dimpled fingersJ
